Barima Akwasi Amankwaah is a seasoned development practitioner and child rights advocate with over 20 years of experience leading policy, advocacy, and programme implementation across Ghana and West Africa. As National Coordinator of the Ghana NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child (GNCRC), he has been instrumental in shaping national and international discourse on children's rights, gender equity, and youth empowerment.

Barima’s areas of expertise span child protection, education, health programming, human rights, and governance, with demonstrated leadership in coordinating shadow reports to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. His work has taken him to global policy platforms, including the United Nations and the African Union, where he has represented civil society on high-level panels and negotiations.

He holds an MPhil in Education, Gender and Development, and has undertaken advanced training in policy analysis, gender equality, strategic communications, and human rights reporting across Africa, Europe, and Asia.

As a founding board member of ECNG, Barima brings a wealth of technical and advocacy expertise to guide the Network’s mission of advancing neuroscience-informed early childhood policies and inclusive development strategies. His dynamic leadership continues to empower civil society, amplify children’s voices, and influence systemic change in the Ghanaian and African policy landscape.
